Medical Occupational Nurse:
Provides professional nursing service and first aid to employees or persons who become ill or injured on premises of business, industrial plant, or other establishment. Takes patient's vital signs, treats wounds, evaluates physical condition of patient, and contacts physician and hospital to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed. Ensures that an effective program for employee health is maintained and monitored.
Maintains record of persons treated, and prepares accident reports and insurance forms. Develops employee programs, such as health education, accident prevention, alcohol abuse counseling, curtailment of smoking, and weight control regimens. Assists in the planning, direction, implementation and evaluation of the health program for employees. Provides testing, evaluation and referral to employees with medical conditions within the hospital, organization, medical facility or clinical office. Gives allergy injections and sponsored immunizations to employees. Evaluates employees with medical conditions and provides appropriate referral for medical services. Actively initiates and coordinates programs and provides corrective measure to promote wellness and protect the health of employees. Administers tuberculosis testing. Ensures compliance with various agency requirements pertaining to occupational health and safety. May conduct pre-employment and scheduled drug screening.
