Our Salary Survey Process

At SalaryExpert, we believe in the power of data. There are two levels of salary data collection at SalaryExpert. The first consists of our individualized salary surveys conducted by ERI, the data that powers the Assessor data. The second includes data purchased from third-party survey providers and data from public sources, which further contribute to the Assessor data. Third-Party and Public Data Collection

Third-Party and Public Sources

After contributing our salary survey data to the Assessor Platform, we begin to collect data from third-party and public sources. Sources include:
  • Surveys from other salary survey firms
  • Digitized publicly available data, such as proxies, 10-K reports, and Forms 990.
Part D
Job Matching, Data Cleaning, and Quality Testing

Data Matching

The data from these pay surveys are matched to ERI jobs by trained analysts. After matching, the jobs are run through a series of statistical QA checks to flag potentinal issues with the matches.
Analysis

Analysis

Next, the primary analyses are run against the salary database, which provides the compensation data we publish. Each analysis for every job is examined every quarter by Ph.D. and M.S. level statisticians to identify potential data or analysis issues.
Manual Review

Manual Review

After the issues are flagged in the manual review, a second round of statistical quality control analyses is conducted, which may flag additional issues for review.
Publication

Publication

Once issues are fixed from the second round of QA testing, data are published for customers to use.
