Physical Therapy Supervisor:
Provides direct supervision over the programs and staff of the Physical Therapy Department that treats disabled, injured, or diseased patients to improve or restore physical functioning, relieve pain, and prevent physical dysfunction. Assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in physical therapy, a current license, and three years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist.

Supervises subordinate personnel and performs supervisory duties such as hiring, delegating assignments, training, evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Evaluates patients' needs and administers therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function, such as range of motion, strength, tolerance, coordination, behavioral management skills, social skills, and activities of daily living. Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic, orthotic, and other adaptive and assistive devices and constructs or modifies as necessary. Consults with others to discuss treatment plans, new or unusual situations, findings, options, and recommendations on client/patient cases. Provides consultation, makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions. Writes or drafts technical reports, articles, or related material based on research, investigation, or analysis. Documents client/patient progress and revises treatment plans as required. Completes and maintains administrative paperwork. Monitors treatment and patient progress. Plans and develops staff in-service training and conducts orientation for new personnel. Plans and schedules work for assigned areas, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space, and facilities for performance of duties. Prepares reports and presents appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Monitors resources utilized in the service delivery process and oversees procurement of required equipment and supplies.
