Examines metal and glass parts for surface scratches and nicks, internal threads, position of assembled parts, presence of bonding adhesive at designated points, and adequacy of soldering.
Verifies dimensions of parts and location of holes, grooves, and other points according to blueprints, using measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height and depth gauges.
Turns parts, such as gears and verniers, to test freedom of movement. Connects assembly to testing devices, observes dials, and compares readings against standards to determine electrical characteristics. Connects assembly to outlet and counts revolution of disk attached to generator during timed interval to ascertain rate of generator speed.
