Unix Administrator: Administers and provides overall support and maintenance of operating systems and network connectivity for all UNIX systems. Evaluates system performance on a daily basis to ensure adequate response times for production applications. Establishes and documents procedures to ensure data integrity including system fail-over and backup/recovery.
Provides reliable backup services. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines, and procedures. Provides recommendations to management on changes, upgrades, and new hardware as required. Provides support to vendors and application programmers as necessary. Maintains current operating systems, PTF levels, and patch versions that comply with vendor requirements. Coordinates hardware repairs with appropriate vendors on supported platforms as necessary.
