Special Education Teacher Aide: Assists special education teaching staff of public or private schools, institutions, or other specialized facilities for students who have learning, mental, emotional, and/or physical disabilities. Creates and works with class materials, and assists the teacher with instruction. Takes attendance. Distributes teaching materials to students.
Grades homework and tests and records results. Maintains order within classroom and on school grounds. Takes students to and from the bus, including handling wheelchairs, as necessary. Helps students to and in the bathroom or changes their diapers, as needed. Operates learning aids, such as projectors or CD/DVD players. Prepares requisitions for library materials and stockroom supplies. Types material and operates duplicating equipment to reproduce instructional materials.
