Assesses patients' psychological or emotional needs such as those relating to stress, fear of test results, financial issues, and marital conflicts to make referral recommendations or assist patients in managing test outcomes. Supports and counsels patients if they find out they or their children are at risk for certain genetic diseases or disorders, and helps them with more difficult aspects and findings.
