Turns off valves and tightens clamps to stop flow of solutions after specified amount of time. Releases clamps and disconnects artificial kidney from cleaning solutions. Removes waste products, such as fatty tissue and blood clots, from caps of artificial kidney with pick or finger and rinses and soaks caps and stoppers in solutions to clean and sterilize caps and stoppers. Inspects and tests artificial kidney to verify conformance to standards, and disposes of artificial kidney not meeting standards specified for patient use. Connects entry nozzle of artificial kidney passing inspection to tubing attached to sterilizing solution and releases clamp on sterilizing solution tubing to fill artificial kidney with sterilizing solution. Disconnects artificial kidney from solution and attaches caps and stoppers to artificial kidney to seal sterilizing solution in artificial kidney for specified amount of time. Places cleaned and sterilized artificial kidneys in storage for patient use. Maintains records on processing of artificial kidneys and maintains inventory of supplies.
