Job Description
Oversees the daily operations of medical coding to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in the coding process. Develops and implements coding policies and procedures in line with current regulations and best practices. Coordinates with healthcare providers and coding staff to resolve coding issues and discrepancies. Conducts regular audits of medical records to verify compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements.... Provides feedback and education to coding staff and healthcare providers based on audit findings and updates in coding guidelines. Maintains knowledge of coding guidelines, reimbursement systems, and regulatory requirements affecting medical coding. Analyzes coding and billing data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential compliance issues. Collaborates with other departments, such as billing and health information management, to streamline processes and ensure consistency. Prepares and presents reports on coding accuracy, efficiency, and compliance to management and relevant committees. Supports the development of corrective action plans in response to identified coding issues.
