Job Description
Evaluates and treats high-risk patients experiencing mood and personality disorders, substance abuse issues, and other mental health challenges using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques. Focuses on positive behavioral changes to combat uncontrollable and self-destructive behaviors. Educates clients on how to tune into and use their senses to calm the mind, how to distract the mind to self-soothe during moments of... distress, how to regulate emotions, and how to use specific phrases to encourage communication. Addresses the personal circumstances of the patient and provides patients with acceptance strategies through validation and coping skills to change negative behaviors. Manages a caseload of clients and conducts both individual and group therapy sessions as well as over-the-phone coaching. Maintains clinical documentation. Consults with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for a patient.
