Job Description:

Nurtures plants by planning and carrying out breeding studies to develop and improve varieties of crops. Enhances specific characteristics, such as yield, size, quality, maturity, and resistance to frost, drought, disease, and insect pests in plants, utilizing principles of genetics and knowledge of plant growth. Excludes paraprofessional positions. Develops variety and selects most desirable plants for crossing. Inbreeds plants, and breeds plants using methods, such as crossbreeding, backcrossing, outcrossing, mutating, or inter-specific hybridization and selection.
