Job Description:

Supervises nurses and plans and organizes activities for the duration of one shift of hospital nursing unit. Notices techniques of, and services rendered by, nursing staff or provides nursing care for patients in unit. Demonstrates techniques for nursing students and/or new personnel to provide training and direction. Requires RN license. Identifies problem areas in nursing unit, such as understaffing, absenteeism, and wastefulness, and takes corrective action. Monitors use of supplies and equipment to avoid abuses and requisitions supplies. Responds to various departments requesting emergency assistance and assigns staff accordingly during emergencies.
