Job Description:

Specializes in the non-operative medical treatment of musculoskeletal sports conditions and, as an Orthopedist, also provides operative treatment of these conditions. Requires licensure as a Medical Doctor with completion of an orthopedic residency and completion of a one-year fellowship in a sub-specialty to focus on sports medicine. Promotes lifelong fitness and wellness and encourages prevention of illness and injury. Provides care for patients with musculoskeletal and muscular problems. Examines patient to identify prognosis and plan of treatment. Verifies medical necessity of surgery, estimates possible risk to patient, and determines best operational procedure. Utilizes surgical, medical, and physical methodologies to treat bone, muscle, and joint problems. Performs surgery, such as arthroscopy or joint replacement, to correct deformities, repair injuries, and improve function in patient. Reviews reports of patient's general physical condition, reactions to medications, and medical history. Examines instruments, equipment, and surgical setup to ensure that antiseptic and aseptic methods have been followed.
