Job Description:

Diagnoses and treats diseases, using radioactive materials. Nuclear medicine differs from radiography in that it studies the physiologic and metabolic processes of the body. Studies blood and urine for diagnostic purposes, including radioimmunoassay, volume, and dilution studies. Interviews and evaluates patients, performing examinations, and records supplementary data. Interprets images and data and collaborates with medical and/or dental staff regarding the diagnoses of cases. Monitors quality control of radionuclide preparation, administration and disposition to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Provides instruction to Nuclear Medicine Technologists regarding desired dosages, techniques, positions and projections. Serves as a consultant in the diagnostic and therapeutic use of radioactive pharmaceuticals. May participate in the delivery of graduate medical education in nuclear medicine. Less
