Job Description:

Performs a technical, organizational, and supervisory role on construction projects, including civil, road, rail, and other infrastructure projects. Marks out the site, applies designs and plans, and liaises with subcontractors. Works as part of the site management team, sharing responsibility for site security, health and safety, and the organization and supervision of material and human resources. Acts as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, crafts people, and operatives. Surveys and levels the site, and marks the position of planned structures. Checks drawings and quantities and ensures that the calculations are accurate for the work. Oversees the selection and requisition of materials for use in the construction. Agrees on a price for materials, and makes cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project. Plans the work and efficiently organizes the site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines. Liaises with any consultants, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce involved in the project. Liaises with clients and their representatives, including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress. Performs the day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and monitoring the work of any subcontractors. Writes required detailed reports.
