Job Description:

Directs activities and provides advice, guidance, and leadership in all aspects of the grants management process. Provides researchers, investigators, and department administrators with a full range of services that facilitate the development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract applications and proposals for external funding, including budget allocation and project initiation. Reviews and interprets Federal and organizational and/or institutional policy as they relate to grants management. Collaborates with the finance office and external funding agencies to review budget justification for appropriateness and completeness of content, and verifies compliance with sponsoring organization's guidelines and grant management organization's policies and procedures. Develops and manages procedures for the monitoring and control of all current grant budgets, from a fiscal year and/or grant year perspective. Checks relevant sections of grant proposals with budgets and budget justifications to ensure consistency. Coordinates submission of proposals, ensuring that all applicable direct and indirect cost rates have been applied. Assists with program progress reports. Tracks grant and contract proposals and other documentation through signature and approval processes. Coordinates subcontracts with sponsor agencies and the finance office. Develops a departmental database to track awards. Ensures that anticipated promotions and annual cost of living increases are calculated into budgets. Identifies budget issues, makes recommendations to address concerns, and resolves problems. Advises staff about changes in sponsored research policies and procedures.
