Job Description:

Oversees day-to-day drilling and rig operation, and manages setup and takedown of rigs. Manages the planning and efficient execution of the drilling program in coordination with the contracting oil company and rig department heads. Coordinates activities of and interfaces with the rig crews. Complies with the operating manual, environmental standards, government laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Organizes, delegates, and manages all rig activities to ensure the preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and repairs of the rig and equipment are performed appropriately to ensure operational usage when needed. Inspects work area for hazards, checks safety equipment, assures that all safety requirements are met, and that high standards are met and maintained. Assures that all workers in the rig are adequately trained and that the rigs are equipped to provide a safe, efficient means of accomplishing their drilling. Oversees regularly checked and maintained inventories and equipment, ensuring adequate and correct supplies as well as the repairs, upkeep, and upgrades of equipment. Develops and controls operational budget and expenses, adheres to budgetary plans, and monitors all rig costs. Coordinates with appropriate departments for the movement of materials and supplies to and from the rig.
