Job Description:

Directs, oversees, and coordinates the planning, development, delivery, administration, and review of all academic programs and services, instruction and assessment, research, academic policies and procedures, and strategic academic efforts and initiatives in a college or university. Determines scheduling of courses and recommends implementation of additional courses. Heads all personnel matters relating to the faculty including recruitment, development, and evaluation of faculty and academic support staff; provides personnel management and direction to deans, chairpersons, and academic administrators, promoting faculty advancement. Promotes a rich intellectual and professional institutional culture, fostering student success, creating an active learning environment in the classroom and beyond, and enhancing teaching, service, and institutional diversity. Advises President and educational institution on academic matters. Coordinates activities of student advisors. Participates in activities of faculty committees. Coordinates and sustains collaborative leadership in advancing the mission of the college. Ensures the academic integrity of the college, and supports enrollment management initiatives and innovations in programs and methods of delivery that respond in a timely manner to a rapidly changing environment. Provides strategic leadership and direction to facilitate innovation in teaching and learning; increases student retention and graduation rates. Works collaboratively with the President, President's Council, and other academic and faculty leaders to maintain and enhance the quality of academic programs, student success, and faculty excellence in teaching, research, and service. Oversees enrollment management, credit and non-credit continuing education initiatives, accreditation, and assessment of learning outcomes. Oversees and administers all budgetary matters relating to the academic programs, resource allocation, and the overall financial and contractual management for Academic Affairs in line with the college's strategic priorities. Promotes and actively represents the college to external constituencies including other post-secondary institutions, businesses, and industries. Ensures that the activities of Academic Affairs meet the requirements of the college’s accrediting and licensing agencies. Serves as liaison officer with accrediting agencies which evaluate academic programs. May serve as chief administrative officer in absence of president, educational institution.
