Job Description:

Plans, develops, and establishes policies and objectives of fund raising function in accordance with objectives of organization. Responsibilities for employees engaged in fund raising activities. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Plans, coordinates, and supervises fund raising programs for charities or other causes. Directs and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the following activities. Contacts fraternal, business, individuals, establishments, labor organizations, etc., by telephone, in person, or by mail to solicit donations. Develops list of prospective donor groups by using such sources as newspaper items, companies' records, local merchants, organizational, professional, industrial listings and directories and other sources. Compiles and analyzes information about potential contributors and to plan selling approach. Contacts prospective donor groups to explain requirements and benefits of contributions. Promotes goodwill. Writes, telephones, or visits potential contributors and persuades them to contribute funds or gifts in-kind by explaining purpose and benefits of fund raising program. Takes pledges or funds from contributors. May write letter to express appreciation for donation. Records expenses incurred and contributions received. May organize volunteers and plan social functions to raise funds. May prepare fund raising brochures for mail-solicitation programs. May train volunteers to perform certain duties to assist fund raising. May speak at meetings about services available. May prepare applications for grants.
