Job Description:

Helps with development, implementation, monitoring, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures. Recognizes, assesses, and controls safety and health hazards in the facility, and works with internal departments to minimize occupational health and safety risks and manage compliance with applicable regulations. Conducts comprehensive safety and hygiene audits. Ensures organization is compliant with all current safety regulations. Conducts accident investigations, and works with departments to correct safety hazards and develop preventative procedures. Performs job hazard assessments and recommends measures to control exposures, including substitution of less hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE), work practice changes, and engineering controls. Prepares and conducts training classes. Writes reports documenting observations, sampling results, and recommendations. Performs and documents radiation measurements related to medical treatment or diagnostic procedures involving radioisotopes. Determines conditions for patient isolation and release following criteria for specific procedures. Interacts with and advises medical personnel on radiation safety precautions involving patients undergoing certain treatments with radiopharmaceuticals.
