Plans and conducts group, individual, group, and family psychotherapy sessions in an inpatient mental health unit. Provides psychotherapeutic services to individuals, groups, couples or families and may specialize in a certain area. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in psychology or social work and two years of patient care experience. Determines frequency, duration, and intensity of treatment. Diagnoses and evaluates mental health status of patients. Collaborates with psychiatrist in developing treatment plans and works closely with medical providers.
