Job Description:

Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats variety of diseases, illnesses, and injuries to hospitalized patients. Determines whether or not a patient needs to be admitted, upon discussion with Emergency Room Physicians, taking detailed history. Oversees and coordinates every aspect of patient care while in the hospital, in place of their normal Primary Care Physician, until the patient is discharged. Evaluates patient, performing examinations to determine degree of illness or injury. Works closely with Medical Assistants, Nurses, Physicians, and others involved with in-patient care. Administers or orders various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Requires licensure as a Medical Doctor in internal medicine. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition. Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs, and recommends dietary and activity program as indicated by diagnosis. Coordinates preoperative and postoperative care and inter-facility transfers. Refers patients to specialists like a Cardiologist or Nephrologist for further treatment for specific conditions and diseases.
