Job Description:

Studies and analyzes the political, social, agricultural, and economic risks associated with climate change. Examines how climate change could lead to social destabilization potentially resulting from such things as impaired access to food and water, violent weather, rising sea levels, and other changes that may create large numbers of migrants and raise tensions. Plans and conducts reviews and analysis of Federal, State, and local policies related to climate change and energy reduction. Analyzes topics related to energy technology and environmental policy to assist in understanding government, sector, and/or company impacts of climate change. Follows climate change and looks at how global warming could offer benefits to stock pickers, follows businesses that are well poised to meet mandates for reducing carbon emissions, observes developers who are finding alternate energy sources, and looks at insurers who could profit from climate change concerns. Analyzes results of research regarding the effects of emissions of greenhouse gases and aerosols from human activities, as they continue to alter the atmosphere in ways that are expected to affect the climate. Develops or assists in developing and managing projects in the energy and climate change policy area.
