Job Description:

Inspects, services, troubleshoots, and repairs all systems on company and/or customer trailers and equipment, including dry vans, reefers, heaters, flat beds, chassis, specialized equipment haulers, livestock haulers, tankers, and service vehicles. Performs major and minor repairs and performs preventative and scheduled maintenance and inspections on trailers, meeting minimum standards set forth by the Department of Transportation. Diagnoses problems, repairs, and maintains mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, lighting, and structural trailer systems according to manufacturers' specifications. Repairs or replaces flooring; rubs rails, doors, and door trim; repairs roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails, cross members, corner radius, and all associated parts. Replaces air chutes on refrigerated trailers. Repairs or replaces chassis components such as, springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, sub frames, and its associated parts. Repairs or replaces ICC's, ICC braces, mud flap brackets, dolly leg assemblies, and any other associated parts by means of welding or cutting with oxy-acetylene torch. Removes and replaces brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races, and associated parts. Fabricates and welds to repair equipment as necessary. Writes explanations of work performed, and reviews work orders. Places orders for parts, charges out all parts used for specific tasks, and files necessary purchase order documentation. Maintains work tools, and cleans and maintains work area. Maintains service records and necessary paperwork for all vehicles. Interacts with the vehicle drivers to know about the functionality and issues of the vehicle. Operates and test drives vehicles and equipment to aid in diagnostics, and test drives vehicles to ensure that they are functioning properly.
