Job Description:

Performs a variety of complex technical activities involved in the planning, development, and implementation of original experimental procedures within the overall scope of a research project. Performs a variety of complex technical activities involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological, and other research laboratory tests, experiments, and determinations to obtain data for research purposes. Assists with the design and implementation of various data collections, performs basic data and/or statistical analysis, creates data displays and reports, and organizes and summarizes information into readily accessible formats. Supports research by performing tasks such as taking notes, producing meeting minutes, and visually inspecting data and data summaries to identify potential problems. Evaluates and interprets collected data and prepares reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Confers with client and/or management in developing plans for research projects and to discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of publication of results. Determines and sets up instruments, material, and apparatus and operates complex laboratory equipment required for specific tests. Reviews scientific journals, abstracts, and other literature for information applicable to research projects. Provides technical guidance, instruction, and consultation to faculty to student researchers and to staff members as required.
