Job Description:

Advises students, focusing on their learning, personal, social, career, and vocational needs. Collects and organizes occupational data to provide source materials and software for school career information center. Teaches students how to take and score self-administered vocational interest and aptitude tests. Schedules appointments for students requiring professional assistance. Counsels students with learning, physical, social, and emotional problems, through conferences held with students on the basis of teacher, parent, principal, or self-referral. Orders, catalogs, and maintains files on materials relating to job opportunities, careers, technical schools, colleges, scholarships, armed forces, and other programs. Provides students and teachers with career information related to students' interests and aptitudes, and demonstrates use of Internet, files, shelf collections, and other information retrieval systems. Keeps records of students enrolled in work experience program and other vocational programs to assist counseling and guidance staff. May make presentations to parent and other groups to publicize activities of career center. Less
