Job Description:

Cares for animals, such as dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and monkeys, in facilities, such as kennels, pounds, animal hospitals, pet shops, and laboratories. Feeds and waters animals according to schedules. Controls and restrains animals as required. Cleans, changes, and disinfects cages, pens, yards; sanitizes animal rooms, hallways, and ancillary equipment; and sterilizes medical and lab tools and equipment. Makes repairs to cages and pens them if needed. Transfers animals between quarters. Examines animals, performing basic animal health checks, looking for signs of disease, illness, or injury, and treats them according to instructions. Exercises animals. Shaves, bathes, clips, and grooms animals. Updates and maintains animal records, and record information according to instructions, such as genealogy, diet, weight, medications, food intake, and license number.
