Job Description:

Performs full range of operator, organizational, direct support, and limited general support equipment repairs on fighting vehicles, weapons, and components composed of a number of subassemblies that include mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Determines the nature and extent of repairs required. Services, tests, troubleshoots, adjusts, and repairs all components of the weapon system. Repairs and or modifies mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and accessories such as elevating mechanisms, traversing mechanisms, recoil system components, loading system components, ramming and firing systems, breeches, tubes, pumps, equilibrators, cupolas, outriggers, shields and their components. Orders repair parts as required. Identifies requirements and completes both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all types of towed, self propelled turret artillery, their mounts, turrets, and carriages in accordance with Military Technical Manuals, DA Modification Work Orders, and Local SOP's. Assembles, adjusts, installs, removes, aligns, and meshes recoil systems, hydraulic rammers, traversing mechanisms, and assemblies such as gun tubes, breaches, carriages, mounts, turrets, elevating, traversing, and loading mechanisms. Ensures that all turret components and accessories are serviced, operational, and test dates are current prior to issue of equipment. Checks all parts by visual or mechanical means to determine serviceability. Troubleshoots end items and accessories to determine the exact nature of repairs required. Replaces or repairs unserviceable parts to specifications contained within the appropriate Technical Manual and or Bulletin.
