Job Description:

Examines and assesses potential subrogation claims, including worker’s compensation and other insurance claims, to determine liability issues and see if there is evidence to pursue recovery from a third party. Looks over claims, requests documentation, and conducts surveys to fully realize the liabilities of all parties involved in the claim and determine recovery potential. Researches applicable State and Federal regulations, and member claims files. Prepares cases resulting from beneficiary and provider-initiated inquiries, internal referrals, personal research, and computer generated reports. Pursues recovery from responsible third parties and insurance carriers, and assists in negotiating effective settlements. Coordinates claims payment (coordination of benefits) among multiple insurers. Makes requests for reimbursement as needed, and completes system-related adjustments when reimbursements are made. Provides training to the claims staff and providers on other party liability issues. Produces management reports. Interacts with other departments, insurance carriers and adjustors, medical providers, attorneys, and plan members. May also prepare, maintain, and resolve all reinsurance cases. Less
