Job Description:

Provides professional editorial skills in the preparation and release of basic to complex employee news items, special articles, publications, and information booklets. Prepares publications by independently creating story ideas, by gathering information through interviews and other forms of research, by performing complex editing tasks, and by writing simple to complex drafts of publications. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or related field and three years of experience in writing and editing for publication. Reviews publication drafts with data sources for accuracy and completeness. Obtains photographs and other visuals as needed. Manages publication or writing projects by costing out projects and managing assigned projects from start to finish. Works with outside vendors such as designers, publishers, and printers to produce communications. Writes bid specifications and evaluates bids. Markets product to internal audience. Maintains effective relationships primarily with internal audiences and occasionally with external audiences including representatives of various media and civic organizations to provide a channel for the dissemination of public information. Builds and develops contacts and relationships with employees and management within the organization. May design layouts and visuals for publications.
