Job Description:

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preparation and layout of a technical publication and ensures the quality and timely delivery of required material. Studies materials to determine most effective form of presentation and number and type of illustrations required, in accordance with specifications and accepted standards of composition, limitations of equipment, and available funds. Activities include, but are not limited to, various media types such as desktop publishing, documentation manuals and software, electronic publishing, illustrations, marketing materials, repair guides and manuals, sales materials, software presentations, translations, users manuals, and related materials. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization. Coordinates technical liaison services between management, production department, sales department, and customers with newly developed techniques or practices in processing company products, and to inform customers of new types, specifications, and end-uses of products. Prepares mockup for use by other workers in preparing pages. Marks or edits copy to incorporate printing instructions and editorial changes. Routes artwork to correction and reproduction. Routes editorial material for production. Reviews finished material for format, accuracy, and general appearance. Submits proofs for final review and routes corrected copy for printing or production.
