Job Description:

Participates in the creation of master plans for and directs the economical and social redevelopment of designated abandoned or underused industrial or commercial facilities (commonly known as brownfields) that may be complicated by environmental contaminations. Ensures adherence to operating policies and procedures, as well as work standards and quality. Promotes and coordinates redevelopment activities with other agencies, merchants, residents, community representatives, and near-by property owners to inform them about the project’s goals, services, and activities. Maintains current knowledge of and explains city or county policies regarding brownfields and answers questions. Consults with and develops working relationships with other city or county development authorities, outside planners and engineers, and financial institutions, and files related documentation. Inspects buildings and structures, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and program goals. Identifies funding sources, writes grant applications, and ensures that grant monies received are spent in accordance with grant restrictions and guidelines. Assists in developing contracts and project specifications and in developing requests for proposals (RFP) and bid specifications for projects.
