Job Description:

Manages and coordinates activities of workers in the bakery department. Oversees the production of pastries and other bakery merchandise. Interviews job applicants and evaluates worker performance to recommend personnel actions such as hiring, retention, promotion, transfer or dismissal of workers. Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations. Trains workers in store policies, department procedures, and job duties. Coach and manage workers in bakery department sales and customer service tasks. Orders merchandise, supplies, and equipment. Records and audits delivery of merchandise, compares record with merchandise ordered, and reports discrepancies to control costs and maintain correct inventory levels. Has knowledge of baking procedures, recipes, measurements, and equipment operation. Inspects merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced and displayed. Monitors and performs quality control of bakery merchandise. Ensures all Federal and state regulations and requirements are maintained. Recommends additions to or deletions of merchandise to be sold in bakery department. Prepares sales and inventory reports. Listens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations. May plan department layout or merchandise or advertising display displayer, merchandise. Monitor daily/weekly department and store sales. Monitors and helps maintain bakery department aisles, displays, and overall appearance of the store. Oversees bakery department and equipment maintenance and repairs as needed.
