Job Description:

Assists in managing and controlling costs on construction projects, which may include cost planning, labor allocations, value engineering, feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, lifecycle costing, valuation, and cost estimation. Assists in preparing standardized schedules for a building project in which all of the construction materials, labor activities, etc., are quantified and against which competing builders can submit bids. Works within a team on construction projects, the team consisting of Construction Director, Contracts Manager, and Surveyor. Assists in controlling construction costs by accurate measurement of the work required and the application of expert knowledge of costs and prices of work, labor, materials and plant required. Utilizes an understanding of the implications of design decisions at an early stage to ensure that good value is obtained for the money to be expended. Measures quantities from drawings, sketches, and specifications prepared by designers, architects, and engineers, in order to prepare tender/contract documents. Assists with the project design development planning and preparation of construction documents, and liaises with client, stakeholders, local authorities, consultants, subcontractors, and statutory bodies.
