Job Description
Develops, maintains, updates, evaluates, and implements the Charge Description Master (CDM or chargemaster) and its pricing scheme to include proper coding for billing purposes and regulatory compliance. Identifies and determines hospital patient charges amounts that meet applicable Federal, State and third party payer regulations and guidelines by performing and documenting complex analysis of data from various sources, i.e., medical coding... guidelines, revenue and usage reports, procurement systems, Medicare, Medicaid, managed care contracts, etc. Reviews code descriptions to the list for consistency, and monitors the chargemaster for accuracy and consistency with the pricing policy between departments and for set up, errors, and compliance with current and future regulations. Maintains and enhances a supportable pricing strategy in comparison to external benchmarks, and ensures patients and their insurance companies won't be charged too much or that the hospital won't charge too little.
