Compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders. Verifies specifications of purchase requests. Gets prices and specifications, consulting catalogs, Internet, and suppliers. Prepares invitation-of-bid and mails to supplier firms or for public posting. Compiles and records prices, deliveries, and items purchased. Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity. Prepares purchase order and sends to supplier and department originating request. Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries. May compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates and award contract to bidders or place orders with suppliers or mail order firms.
