Job Description:

Designs and fabricates jewelry articles, such as rings, brooches, pendants, bracelets, earrings, tie tacks, and lockets. Develops fine and fashion jewelry concepts, taking concepts from beginning stage through completion. Designs all aspects of the product, including initial sketches, fashion detailed drawings, structural models, computer simulations, full-scale prototypes, and possibly packaging mechanics. Understands market trends, product development lead times, and the working components of jewelry production. Originates or redesigns objects that combine beauty and durability. Draws pictures to show how a piece of jewelry will look. Researches, mocks up, and tests all products to assure products meet organization standards. Communicates and interacts with vendors and manufacturers, providing press ready CAD/CAM art files and responding to questions. Develops an in-depth understanding of customer's needs, competitive products, and windows of opportunities for new product development. Maintains consistency within brand through development and implementation of graphic standards. Creates market impact while considering appropriateness of design and ensuring a quality appearance. Makes jewelry following the design specifications, or passes the designs on to another craftsperson to make the jewelry. Cuts, saws, and files raw materials before soldering and polishing the finished piece. Solders pieces of jewelry together and/or reshapes and restyles old jewelry, following designs or instructions.
