Job Description:

Performs hemodialysis treatments on assigned patients, utilizing dialysis equipment and vascular access procedures according to approved policies and procedures. Typically requires licensure as a Registered Nurse with current CPR certification. Completion of basic EKG interpretation and experience in the care of acutely ill patients is generally preferred. Performs patient assessment by taking vital signs, reviewing dialysis orders, taking medical history, and interviewing the patient. Assists in determining compliance to dietary or medication regimen and documents observations appropriately. Organizes and updates the patient medical record. Troubleshoots equipment problems with dialysis equipment or informs technical staff of any malfunctions. Administers intravenous medications and blood products according to approved policies and procedures. Performs analysis of patient data, assesses and monitors status of vascular accesses, reviews lab work, and reports any relevant changes or abnormalities to Physician.
