Researches, designs, develops, runs tests, and evaluates computer hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, keyboards, modems, printers, and other related equipment. Collaborates with software engineers and other scientists in design and testing of computer hardware, circuits, and related components. Excludes paraprofessional positions. Researches, develops, designs, and tests computers and related electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering. Works closely with software engineers and other scientists in design and testing of computer hardware, circuits, and related components. May supervise technicians, drafters, or lower level engineering personnel. May direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
