Job Description:

Develops a piece of music in accordance with the creative vision for the recording. Supervises all aspects of the recording process, from assisting with song selection to contracting with session players, selecting the studio and engineers, booking studio time, and overseeing the recording budget. Leads the creative process of a studio, film, television, or radio recording project. Controls the recording sessions. Coaches and guides the musicians. Organizes and schedules production budget and resources. Supervises the recording, mixing, and mastering processes. Utilizes musical skill and performance experience, combined with a thorough knowledge of musical genres, music, and sound production in a recording studio. Demonstrates a depth of musical, acoustical, and studio technical understanding. May help the artist select songs to be recorded. May work with recording acts and record labels to produce records. May work with composers and produce sound recordings for movies, television shows, music videos, commercials, video games, and other forms of multimedia. May work for record labels producing for recording artists under contract. May do freelance work rather than work full-time for a single organization. Less
