Job Description:

Provides infrastructure vision and problem anticipation/solving on an enterprise level. Anticipates IT industry future directions and relates to current and future infrastructure needs and projects. Interfaces across several channels, acting as a visionary, to proactively assist in defining infrastructure direction. Remains continuously aware of business, technical, architecture, and infrastructure issues, and acts as sounding board or consultant to aid in the development of creative solutions. Manages backup, security, user help systems, and telecommunications platform. Consults with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computer and communication system requirements. Directs daily operations of department systems, analyzing data workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines. Assigns and reviews the work of system analysts, programmers, and other computer and telephone-related workers. Stays abreast of advances in technology and develops computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery. Reviews and approves all systems charts and programs prior to implementation. Evaluates the organization's technology use and needs and recommends improvements such as hardware and software upgrades. Monitors enterprise-wide systems for effective and productive daily operation. Controls operational budget and expenditures on technology. Meets with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors and others to solicit cooperation and resolve problems. May provide any level of project management for single or multiple projects. Less
