Job Description:

Supervises, evaluates, coordinates, plans, and administers diagnostic and therapeutic clinical respiratory care procedures, including administration of oxygen, therapeutic gas, and respiratory medications to patients in accordance with Physician orders. Performs all duties and responsibilities of a Registered Respiratory Therapist by assuming responsibility for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of Respiratory Therapy Technicians and Certified Respiratory Therapists. Requires advanced training and RRT certification. Coordinates all emergency responses and develops clinical care protocols. Evaluates patient care plans and performs assessment of endotracheal tube placement. Provides orientation, education, and training as needed to Respiratory Services staff. Reviews performance of all staff members and develops performance plans and professional goals. Instructs and supervises patient and therapeutic assessments to assure optimal medical decisions. Monitors adherence to policy, procedures, and practice guidelines. Assists with departmental clinical research projects. Maintains appropriate supply inventory. Provides input into applicant hiring and termination decisions. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
