Chemical Dependency Director:
Directs the staff and programs of the Chemical Dependency Department and provides direct counseling and case management services to patients with chemical dependency problems. Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for chemical dependency services and programs to ensure quality care to patients. Assists in the design, planning, promotion, execution, and evaluation of the substance abuse program. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor, and five or more years of management experience.

Develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures. Processes referrals, appointments, admission calls, and program plans for the patients. Provides case management services to patients and recommends appropriate treatment plan. Develops program objectives, identifies discrepancies, and implements recommendations. Coordinates work schedules for support staff. Organizes patient education sessions. Serves as facilitator to discuss problems, initiate patient groups, and answer patient questions. Provides in-service training on substance abuse to inpatient and outpatient areas. Maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Confers and cooperates with management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures. Reviews and analyzes expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine requirements for chemical dependency services.
