Computer Applications Manager: Manages and coordinates the development, creation, installation, and maintenance of computer programs to process data using business and scientific applications. Oversees and reviews work of programming personnel, and gives technical support and guidance. Analyzes workflow and assigns or schedules work to meet priorities and goals.
Directs daily operations of department and coordinates project activities with other departments. Meets with IT department heads, supervisors, systems analysis personnel, and user management to solicit cooperation, clarify program intent, and identify and resolve problems. Analyzes test runs on computer to correct or direct correction of coded program and input data. Revises or directs revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Prescribes standards for terms and symbols used to simplify interpretation of programs. Evaluates programming project proposals and assesses project feasibility. Collaborates with computer manufacturers and other users to develop new programming methods. Directs training of subordinates in programming and program coding. Develops and interprets organization goals, policies, and procedures, and reviews project plans.
