Plans, develops, organizes, teaches, conducts, and evaluates a variety of in-service orientation programs and educational programs for clinical personnel to meet competency assessment requirements in conformance with departmental objectives and accreditation standards. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing, with significant clinical nursing experience in a specialty area. Nursing education experience is usually also required.
Coordinates and implements a variety of nursing educational services within the organization. Facilitates needs assessments, creative strategies, and techniques in support of nursing educational service delivery. Plans and evaluates educational programs designed to meet learning needs of nursing staff. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified Nursing Education Department staff. Remains abreast of new developments in education services, methods, and programs and implements application of such developments in the in-service training program. Monitors and assesses the overall effectiveness and outcomes of educational programs and activities. Evaluates academic performance and clinical competency of staff.
