Performs engineering analysis and designs solar energy systems or components, applying knowledge of energy requirements, local climate, solar technology, and thermodynamics.
Develops technical and economic analyses of projects and technologies using models. Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using engineering principles. Leads or participates in cross-functional teams to solve technical problems and provides technical guidance to others. Assesses regulatory, technical, and market issues to evaluate competitive dynamics of various resource options. Ensures that new products comply with industry standards and certifications and meet internal guidelines for safety and reliability. Collaborates with patent counsel to determine acceptable design opportunities and create new intellectual property. Manages data and prepares periodic analysis updates. Leads and contributes to authorship of reports, studies, and proposals. Interacts with utilities, energy project developers, financial institutions, energy end-users, investors, government agencies, and other organizations. May support the performance of solar energy projects covering multiple technologies and involving diverse assignments, such as resource assessment, due diligence, siting, feasibility studies, new technology evaluation, project proposal evaluation, market assessments, strategic planning, policy evaluation, and economic analysis.
