Travel Physical Therapist:
Administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for elderly and disabled patients in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, government agencies, acute care hospitals, rehab hospitals, outpatient clinics, long term acute care hospitals, nursing facilities, etc. Works on a short-term, long-term, temporary, or contract basis in a variety of locations throughout the country. Works assignments ranging from one to fifty-two weeks, based on the employer and the assignment needs, moving to different facilities in areas of their choosing after each travel assignment is finished.
Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Reviews Physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required. Provides physical therapy services to patients under the appropriate guidelines established by the facility. Conducts patient screening/evaluations to determine need for intervention and treatment planning. Interprets and communicates evaluation findings to patients, family, and other team members. Establishes individual patient schedules in conjunction with other team members. Develops treatment plans by identifying a problem list, including short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals. Implements and conducts treatment as outlined in treatment plan. Monitors patient’s response to intervention and modifies treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with Physician orders. Develops appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of the patient in his or her own environment.
