International Human Resources Manager:
Manages human resources issues related to a company's foreign operations, which may include helping to place staff returning from overseas assignments, preparing staff members to work in various international operations, and translating cultural and international customs for North American staff.
Plans,
develops,
recommends, and
implements human resources activities, policies, procedures, and programs for an organization’s international locations. Guides field staff and managers regarding policies and procedures.
Oversees activities relating to staffing, employee education and training, labor relations, affirmative action, benefits administration, management development, and salary administration. Ensures all employment paperwork is properly completed by new and existing employees. Maintains tracking system for the appropriate programs, tracking foreign employees and performance evaluations, and ensures this information is communicated and updated by the appropriate managers. Keeps records of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations. Liaises with appropriate departments, including Payroll, regarding employee processing and changes to employee information. Obtains proper documents from appropriate managers for employees that are starting and ending employment. Plans and conducts or coordinates new employee orientation. Participates in compensation and benefit surveys and/or conducts wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate. Keeps up to date on current human resources trends. Writes separation notices for employees separating with cause, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations. Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover. Hires, trains, evaluates own staff’s employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Prepares and analyzes department budget to identify budget needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budget funds. May represent company at personnel-related hearings and investigations. May contract with outside suppliers to provide employee services such as food services, transportation, or relocation service. May administer pre-employment tests to applicants. May supervise clerical workers. May negotiate collective bargaining agreement. May include management of employee relations activities. May be required to know a second or multiple languages.
