Nurse Technician:
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides direct patient care to patients consistent with nursing program preparation. The incumbent in this position must have completed a program of registered nursing and applied to write the licensure examination or be currently enrolled in a program of registered nursing or between terms/semesters.
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides direct patient care to patients consistent with nursing program preparation. Provides nursing care adapted to individual patient needs based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatment and examination of patient.
Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of patient. The incumbent in this position must have completed a program of registered nursing and applied to write the licensure examination or be currently enrolled in a program of registered nursing or between terms/semesters. May administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
