Emergency Room Technician:
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician in the Emergency Room, performs basic patient care activities. This position typically requires certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician in the Emergency Room, performs basic patient care activities. Provides Emergency Room technical support for physicians and nurses to optimize patient care. Assists in providing patient care by performing phlebotomy and IV starts, performing EKGs, transporting patients to other departments, and placing patient on cardiac and vital sign monitors. Performs wound care, inserts foley catheters and nasogastric tubes, obtains lab specimens and documents all care provided. Assists the Emergency Physician in suturing simple lacerations after the credentialing process is completed. Assists the physician with physical exams, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic procedures. Applies a variety of orthopedic splints on patients and fits patients for crutches. Cleans equipment and workspace. Stocks supplies and coordinates repair of equipment malfunctions. This position typically requires certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
